Read An Excerpt:
He knocked on the door, craning his neck to look up into the window.
“Help ya son?” the driver drawled, placing his finger on the book to mark the spot he had been reading.
“Yes sir,” Whitey began, unsure of how to proceed. He decided to just dive in.
"You didn't happen to pick up any hitchhikers today did you?" “Yup,” the driver answered immediately. “Took a young man from practically this very spot on up to Enumclaw. I’m on the return trip from that run right now.”
Whitey’s heart beat a little faster. He pulled out a photo he’d printed from Hudgens’ mug shot.
“Was this the guy?”
The driver leaned out the window and stared at the photo.
“Yup, that’s him. He do something’ wrong?”
Where to start?
“Yeah. He stole a cop car.”
“Musta been that one they surrounded over yonder.” The old man pointed vaguely to the west side of the
lot. Whitey looked that way, but of course there was no police car to around. They’d have taken it away hours ago.
“I thought he was actin’ kind of funny…” the driver mused, talking to himself more than Whitey.
“Would you mind telling me exactly where you took him?
The driver inspected him, taking in the shaggy hair and taped glasses.
“You’re a little young to be the law,” he said.
“My name’s Whitey Jones and I work for the Olympia Herald.”
The old man guffawed. “Out chasin’ the big story are ya?”
“Yes,” he answered simply.
“You reckon that boy is guilty of all the the things they say?”
Whitey raised his eyebrows.
“I seen some stuff on the news.” The driver answered defensively, as if Whitey had asked him a question.
“Why didn’t you report him?”
The old man grinned, revealing a few missing pickets in his fence.
“How do you know I didn’t?” Whitey smiled back.
“I just have a feeling.”
“Hmmph. Well I had a feeling too.” The old man said after a moment. He patted the book that was open on the steering wheel. “The Lord talks to me sometimes. I kinda figured them cops was after him, but he struck me as a good sort.” He shrugged. “Maybe I shoulda reported him, but I didn’t.”
“I think you did the right thing,” Whitey blurted, then blushed. “I mean…I don’t know what’s going on,
but it’s more than it looks like, I’ll tell you that. I don’t know if this guy, his name is Tyler Hudgens by the way, is innocent or not; in fact I know he broke into a bank…but there’s some strange stuff happening on the Ponderosa and I plan on getting to the bottom of it.”
Skepticism and belief fought for control of the man’s face. It settled somewhere in between.
“What kind of strange stuff?”
“The kind that could change the world,”

REVIEW OF THE M2 LINE OF SKIN CARE REFINISH PRODUCTS
I have always been looking for products that will help even out my skin tone and reduce wrinkles. I suffer from Rosacea and use a prescription gel to help reduce the redness. When I was offered the M2 line of skin care to try, I jumped at the opportunity.
Transform your skin with the power of M2, the latest skin care collection from the makers of MaMa Lotion. M2 incorporates Mandelic and Malic Acids into each of its products. These unique Alpha Hydroxy Acids have the amazing ability to resurface your skin, eliminating acne, softening wrinkles, and lightening scars and hyperpigmentation. I was given the whole line to try.
Exfoliating Cleanser:
Delve deep into your pores with this refreshing, refining cleanser. M2 Exfoliating Cleanser is a gel formula that removes all traces of impurities, including dirt, oil, and makeup. The Mandelic and Malic Acid formula gently exfoliates dead skin cells, leaving behind a glowing radiance. This soap and sulfate-free wash won't strip or irritate the skin.
I enjoyed using the cleanser. A little went a long way and it did not over lather. The product rinsed clean and did not feel sticky and left my face refreshed.
Skin Refinish 12%:
Eliminate all your skin care woes with one easy-to-use serum. This multi-purpose face treatment uses a high-potency combination of Mandelic and Malic Acids to rapidly even skin tone, reduce breakouts, and soften wrinkles.
I did apply my prescription gel before applying the Skin Refinish. I dropped my first M2 bottle once and the swivel spout broke and I was not able to pump out the product. I had cover the opening rubber glove to prevent the product from drying out. You only need a small amount to cover your face evenly. I having been using it for a month now and I feel that it is helping to even my tone and reduced pore size. It was a little sticky and took about 5 minutes to dry but then my face felt smooth. It did cause a little redness and a burning sensation the first couple of times that I used it but that resolved rather quickly.
I did not get the opportunity to try the Skin Refinish 20% because I wanted to give the 12% a chance to work.
Skin Recovery Moisturizer:
Soothe and repair your stressed, dehydrated skin with this oil-free, antioxidant-rich moisturizer. Formulated to comfort and protect the skin from moisture loss throughout the day while improving the appearance of aging, acne, and hyperpigmentation.
I was not impressed with the moisturizer. It left my skin very sticky and I had to use a separate moisturizer to make my skin feel smooth. The packaging was easy to use, dispensed the right amount of the product and it was easy to spread.
Skin Refinish 20% and the Body Refinish 15%:
I did not try the Body Refinish and the Skin Refinish 20% but I plan to soon. I feel that they will be just as good as the other products. So check back for my review.
Overall, I was pleased with the overall effects of the products. They did help reduce my redness and irritation. I did not stop using my prescription gel while using the products because I did not want a flareup of my Rosacea. I will definitely be using the products in the future. I have researched other products and the M2 line is priced comparably with the other brand name products.
Please visit the M2 site for more information on the products and where to purchase them.
Disclosure:
I was given the complete line of the M2 products for my honest review and I was not compensated for my review.
REVIEW OF THE ORPHAN KING BY SIGMUND BROUWER
I was cleaning my basement recently and I came across the book The Orphan King: Book 1 in the Merlin's Immortals series. It was written in 2012 and since then the author has written two more books in the series. It look interesting so I decided to read it.
About the Book:
The future of the Immortals is in the hands of an orphan
My greatest fear was that they would find us and make of us a sacrifice beneath a full moon. Now you, Thomas, must help us destroy the circle of evil.
The last words of a dying woman would change the life of young Thomas. Raised behind monastery walls, he knows nothing of his mysterious past or imminent destiny. But now, in the heart of medieval England, a darkness threatens to strangle truth. An ancient order tightens their ghostly grip on power, creating fear and exiling those who would oppose them. Thomas is determined fulfill his calling and bring light into the mysterious world of the Druids and leaves the monastery on an important quest.
Thomas quickly finds himself in unfamiliar territory, as he must put his faith in unusual companions—a cryptic knight, a child thief, and the beautiful, silent woman whom may not be all she seems. From the solitary life of an orphan, Thomas now finds himself tangled in the roots of both comradery and suspicion.
Can he trust those who would join his battle…or will his fears force him to go on alone?
About the Author:
With three million books in print, SIGMUND BROUWER is the best-selling author of dozens of popular books for children and adults. An acclaimed storyteller and passionate reader, Brouwer brings his characters to life with the desire to give voice to truth. Over the last two decades, his Rock and Roll Literacy presentation has inspired students and teachers at schools all across North America. Sigmund is married to songwriter recording artist Cindy Morgan. The couple and their two young daughters divide their time between Red Deer, Alberta and Nashville, Tennessee.
My Thoughts:
I have always been a fan of the Middle Ages and Merlin. The idea of the Orphan King came from the book Magnus written in 1995. I have not read the book so I could not compare the two editions of the story. The book was a little slow in the beginning but it picked up speed and I could not put it down. I had to find out if Thomas succeeds in his mission to conquer the castle "Magnus". I had thought that Merlin was going to be a character in the book but it is set years after Merlin's time. It was full of mystery, suspense, knights, castles and an medieval times. I was glad that I decided to read the Orphan King and I look forward to read the next books in the series.
