My Thoughts:

I have a HE washing machine and I was a little reluctant to try the product but I gave it a try. I was surprised how well it worked and it did not damage my machine. I did not use the ball in the standard HE setting but I used it in the bulk/bedding setting that filled the washer with more water. The ball is filled with pellets and I was skeptical that little pellets would work and clean the laundry but it did a great job on my dirty socks. The laundry smelled fresh and clean even without fabric softener. The kit contains enough pellets and a stain remover stick that should last a whole year.
